Morello trace their heritage back to before the time of the Calamity where they, along with the other demihumans, were subjugated by the Great Human Empire. In the aftermath, however, their naturally cheerful disposition and natural leadership abilities allowed them to dominate the post-Calamity landscape. The first race to resettle following the Rekindling, the morello quickly established their port cities in the Fens and from there their empire could only grow. Counted as the most trustworthy race by the others, the morello are highly regarded as bankers, traders and sailors.
Morello are a race of anthropomorphic frogs and are one of the smallest races, standing on average between 1 and 1.2 metres tall. Their skin be of almost any hue, though the spectrum from brown through to yellow and green is most common. Particularly vibrant hues, such as purple, red or blue are regarded as rare and beautiful by the morello. Patches of darker or lighter skin mimic facial features of the other races, such as eyebrows or moustaches.
Morello integrate well into almost any society. They are the most populous demihuman race in the world, finding comfortable settlement in all but the most isolationist communities. Morello are naturally gifted at matters of trade, finance and clerical duties, as well as sailing and entertaining. On the whole, they are a gregarious and social people, though individuals and even some whole communities of morello may shun contact with others. It is rare to find major settlements without a sizeable morello population, however – their useful skillset and ingratiating mannerisms lend themselves well to integrating with greater civilisation.
